Summary

"The Bedbug [1916] by C. L. Marlatt" is a detailed study from the United States Department of Agriculture focusing on the biology and management of bedbugs, also known as "Cimex lectularius," in human environments. It explores the insect’s origins, life cycle, and feeding habits and demonstrates common misunderstandings about how they spread in homes through luggage and laundry, not only through negligence. Marlatt describes the bedbug’s ability to survive in different conditions, including concerns about their capacity to transmit human diseases. The book also provides a variety of practical pest solutions, such as chemical treatments and preventative techniques. Its emphasis is on the importance of diligence and fast reactions in preventing the spread of these insects.
